We're Composting and We're Growing!

The UW Extension Conference Centers has a composting program for much of our organic food service waste. All biodegradable kitchen scraps, including coffee grounds, are collected from the kitchen each day and deposited into special covered containers which are emptied twice a week by UW staff for transfer to a managed large-scale compost area west of campus. In addition to composting organic material, UWECC has also begun using compostable disposable napkins and cups. Guests of both Centers will be asked to dispose of these items in specially marked bins just as they currently do with recyclable bottles and cans.

In a partnership with F.H. King Students for Sustainable Agriculture, we're proud to offer a home to some beautiful and edible gardens on the Pyle Center rooftop and west patio. Find out more about F.H.King via their website or watch this video. The produce grown here is given away free of charge on campus during the summer months.
